David Trezeguet: France v Italy 2000
During the brief era of the Golden Goal, David Trezeguet was one of two men to seal a European Championship through the rule. Italy scored first in the Euro 2000 final and looked as though their tactical nouse would see them through. But with little time on the clock and France pushing with four forwards they found the equaliser through Silvain Wiltord. The game went to golden goal extra-time. With Pires dribbling past Cannavaro late into the first half of extra-time he delivered a ball low towards the penalty spot. Trezeguet adjusted his body a hit a ball which was slightly behind him, sending it riffling into the top corner. Champion of Europe.
