Juan Cuadrado: Fiorentina v Inter 2014

£20.00

Words from Chloe Beresford.

On a warm evening in Florence back in October 2014, supporters in the Curva Fiesole had created a stunning display of choreography in order to inspire their side on to victory versus Inter. Each individual flag was coloured purple to match the team's iconic kits, with the exception of some well-placed white ones that spelled out the word "CARICA!", which translates as "CHARGE!", in English.

There was a special kind of magic in the air that night, and the players surely felt it too. It had taken hone-grown talent Khouma Babacar just seven minuted to open the scoring with an absolute rocket, but the next goal - scored by Juan Cuadrado - is my favourite Serie A strike. From our position in the Curva, both me and my Dad could tell it was a goal as soon as it had left his boot. The Colombian winger drove the ball forward towards the box before curling both an exquisite and powerful shot past a helpless Samir Handanovic in the Nerazzurri goal.

He danced his trademark celebration along with all the other Viola supporters that night before the match finally finished 3-0. It wouldn't be the last time that Fiorentina triumphed over the Milanese giants, but that special match is one in particular that is still remembered fondly in the beautiful Tuscan City.
