Chosen by Jon Rogers as his favourite ever goal:
My favourite goal is a simple old tap in. A bog standard, off the inside of his foot, tap in.
Jerry Goss scored a better goal than this only days before, that infamous matrix-esque volley to put us 1-0 up away to Bayern during Norwich City’s only run in Europe.
I didn’t think it could get better, but the equalizer in the return fixture remains the only goal I have ever “felt”. An actual feel. The moment he connected the sound, the relief, the sight of 26,000 people erupting into pure, unfiltered primal noisy joy.
It’s burst into my chest. Into my brain. Into my heart, and has never left.
A lofty ball in from Mark Bowen, competitively flicked on by a young Chris Sutton and it almost landed on Jeremy Goss boot for a 6 yard tap in.
I won’t forget it.
I can’t forget it.
My favourite goal.
