Chosen by Maryam Naz as their favourite ever goal:
As one-half of the Fran Kirby Fight Club, my co-host, and probably some of our followers, would consider it a crime if I didn’t give her the pick. Fran has a very special place in my heart. Her journey of rising above her grief and channeling that power into her line of work for Chelsea is one that very much hits home. Last season she came back from over a year without football and played every game as if her tomorrow wasn’t guaranteed. It was a campaign littered with some of her best ever goals. The one that stuck out for me was in the latter stages of the Champions League against Bayern Munich. Chelsea had been pinned back in the first leg of the tie and needed a turnaround to guarantee progression. It was Fran who led the attacking charge; her goal was one of wonder. Ji So-Yun played her through with a ball over the top and Fran responded with a searing volley from just outside the box to give Chelsea the lead. She was unplayable, and although Chelsea went on to lose the final, her performances across the campaign and against Bayern will forever be etched in my mind.
