Chosen by Joe Donnohue as his favourite ever goal:

Picture the scene: an anxious St James’ Park on the final day of the season. Relegation looms, should Hull City better Newcastle’s result. Hull are playing Man United, who’ve fielded the reserves; Newcastle are against West Ham, managed by Sam Allardyce, the once-sacked Toon boss. Hull have the ball in the net during the first half, there’s momentary panic as Newcastle are still drawing 0-0. It’s ruled out. Fast forward to the second half and Newcastle with one win in countless attempts, who have slipped from 9th to 17th in half a season, are stuck at level-pegging with a West Ham side who are simply unbothered. 90 miles down the east coast, Hull are fighting for their lives. Moussa Sissoko opens the scoring - an oft-forgotten incident on the day - but it is Newcastle’s second goal, the clincher, that is significantly insignificant. Scored by Jonás Gutíerrez, who had battled back from a testicular cancer diagnosis, he cuts in from the left and shoots low, rippling the net. Instantaneously, he tears off his shirt, revealing the tattoo he has had inked following his recovery from illness, and makes a beeline for the Directors’ Box. Mike Ashley is present, the owner of the club which had attempted in vain to prematurely relieve Jonás of his duties due to that same diagnosis - a misdeed which subsequently cost the club £2 million in the courts. Newcastle were safe, for another year at least, and that was to be Jonás’ final action of seven years in black and white.
