Paul Dickov: Man City v Gillingham 1999

£20.00

Before the glamour of the City we know today there was Second Division football, Maine Road and Paul Dickov. Having dropped down to the third tier of English football for the first time in their history, Man City had the opportunity to start climbing back up the leagues with this play-off final against Gillingham. The match passed by goalless for 80 minutes until it suddenly burst into life. Two quick fire goals from the Gills put them in a commanding position and it looked as though they would be climbing the Wembley steps as champions. However, city got one back in the 90th minute and a Scotsman named Paul finished the job off 7 minutes into added time to ensure the game went to extra-time and eventually penalties. Where, of course, City completed the turnaround. Once in a blue moon.
