Murray’s goal against Palace is my favourite Brighton goal because it was so’ un-Glenn Murrayish’ to me. The striker made his career from being a brilliant target man who could head the ball and finish from inside the box, so a volley coming over his shoulder and hitting it first time into the back of Palace’s net was a thing of beauty. A lot of people remember that game for Knockaert’s stunner, but that goal was part of the player, Murray’s was so out of character that it stood out to me. What made it it sweeter was that is came against Palace, a club that is a conflict for fans and probably Murray as he played there for a couple of years. But that goal solidified that he was truly Albion through and through.
