Chosen by Mark Gordon as his favourite ever goal:

It’s 2001 and veteran Italy striker Roberto Baggio is in the twilight of his stellar career, playing for relegation-threatened Brescia in Serie A. A trip to Stadio Delle Alpi to face a Juventus side battling it out for the title is already a big game but it’s magnified by the narrative of the former Juve hero returning to face his old club.

The hosts are leading the game 1-0 with just minutes remaining as future World Cup winner Andrea Pirlo gathers the ball on the half-way line for Brescia, sending a looping pass over the Juve defence. The pass is inch perfect as it drops over the right shoulder of Baggio on the edge of the eighteen-yard box.

After the ball falls by his ponytailed head, Baggio executes what may well be the best first touch of all-time. With one brush of his Diadora boot he both cushions the dropping ball whilst simultaneously taking it round on-rushing goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar. All that is left to do for the legendary number ten is to roll the ball into the unguarded net which he does flawlessly. The finish weighted to perfection to cross the line whilst giving a Juventus defender hope that he could maybe stop it. A divine goal by the man they called the Divine Ponytail.
