Jimmy @EntireDesign_: My Favourite Goal
My favourite goal isn't necessary the best goal we've ever scored or even the most important, but its one I have probably celebrated the most. I'm a Liverpool fan and in my family, I have a Dad who is also a Liverpool fan, a twin brother and a Mum who are City fans and an older brother who is a United fan. Last season we drew City in the Champions League quarter finals and whenever we play each other, our house is incredibly tense. Even more so with this being our first European encounter.
We won the first leg 3-0 and against any other team, that's tie over, but I was so, so nervous with the tie going to the Eithad. Me and my Dad both said to each other, what ever we do, do not concede early. We went 1-0 down after 2 mins. The first 45 minutes was one of the most torturous things I've ever had to watch, we got absolutely battered. Then in the 56th minute, Sadio Mané broke through City's defence, with probably our first meaningful attack, and forced Ederson to sprawl for the ball at this feet. Then Mo Salah calmly flicks the ball past Ederson and subtly dinks it over him into the far right corner. I've never celebrated a goal so much, the relief I felt after that goal was immense. Bizarrely we then went on to win the game 2-1.
Because of how I celebrated, the importance of the goal at the time, the scenes in the away end that followed, Mo Salah vs Man City at the Etihad to make it 1-1, is probably my favourite goal.
